The Conference

The International Conference on Research and Assessment for Sustainable use of Black Sea Shellfish Resources WHITECLAM has been organized in Varna, Bulgaria, on 18 and 19 October 2021, by the Institute of Fish Resources -Varna (IFR), in cooperation with the Black Sea Danube Association for Research and Development (BDCA), with the support of the National Operational Program on Fisheries and Aquacultures, Project “WHITECLAM”.

The Conference aims to provide a forum to discuss the latest developments in the research and assessment of the Black Sea shellfish resources, in the prospective of the EU and national policies on development of the Blue Economy.

The Technical program included a series of Keynote lectures, as well as oral presentations in 7 Technical sessions.

The Conference has been organized as a Hybrid Event, including physical participation in a conference room at Hotel Cherno More- Varna, as well as online transmission of all presentations and discussions.

All keynote speeches, and presented papers has been included in an electronic Book of Proceedings (If you are interested, please contact the organisers at: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).  All papers were accepted after a peer-review process based on their full text. Selected papers from the Conference will be published in the supplement section of the scientific journal „Acta Zoologica Bulgarica“. The deadline for submitting full-text papers is 10 January 2021.
