Dr. Theofanis V. Karambas is Professor of Coastal Engineering at the School of Civil Engineering in AUTh. He holds a Civil Engineering Diploma (AUTh, 1986), a M.Sc. degree in Maritime Civil Engineering (University of Liverpool, UK, 1988), and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (AUTh, 1991). He has more than 25 years of teaching, professional and research experience on numerical modelling of coastal hydrodynamics and wave-induced processes (wave propagation and breaking, surf zone hydrodynamics, sediment and pollutants transport, storm surges), design of ports, coastal protection works and structures, mild-type and environmentally friendly coastal protection, climate change adaptation, oceanography and coastal zone management. He has participated in more than 30 research projects as a scientific responsible, work package leader and partner (including  Coastal Morphodynamics MAST I- G6-M, Coastal Morphodynamics G8-M, ECAWOM, SAFE, EUROWAVES, DELOS, THESEUS etc) financed by national and EU funds. He has more than 150 papers in scientific journals  and conferences and he is referee for more than 20 international scientific journals and conferences.
